This highly decorated broadsword was an attempt to pick up again where the best makers in Scotland left off, as they were forced out of business around 1750. After Culloden, swords were banned along with tartan and bagpipes. Military broadsword production went to England and never recovered. This sword features some of my favourite design elements used by the Simpsons of Glasgow and Allans of Stirling. Groovy and filed, brass inlays, and gilded floral designs. Multi bar pattern welded blade made here at the forge.
