Forging a Claymore pommel

The pommel is a typical medieval 'wheel' shape. I'm using 2" diameter steel, like the example in the National museum, and it's length will finish slightly longer than it's diameter. The way to medieval smiths made the wheel was to hammer with a ball pein round and round the diameter as shown...




After this, I took it to the lathe to grind it to a good finish...


Cut to length...
